MAMAFest and videos!
MAMAFest is back! And the Hollow Mountain String Band have been invited to play the late slot on Friday 1st September, midnight to 1am, and the venue is Ardrishaig Hall.
We're busy getting a rockin' set ready and we'll be putting on a turbo charged show with out usual blend of Americana. Most of the set will be original material. Rab has calculated that there are around thirty original songs and tunes ready with arrangements (mostly in his head), but we're slowly but surely integrating them into the set. We have around ten songs as part of the show with a whole long list of new stuff waiting in the wings.
We're very much looking forward to playing our part in helping to bring MAMAFest the success it deserves. It's a great local festival with some of the best talent in Argyll taking part over three days.
Back in May we recorded some live video footage of some of our own songs. We're sorry it has taken so long to get anything ready but video editing can be a very costly and time consuming business! Rab ended up finally giving it a go himself with What's the Deal? - a charming song about the perils of alcohol and the consequences of over indulging!
We managed to catch one of the best days of they year (it was sunny) so we got through three songs, with the most valuable help of Richard Dale with some fantastic drone footage, and Michelle McAnally Woods with some great incidental footage. The three songs; What's the Deal?, Goin' Back Home and Watcha Gonna Do were filmed at John's place in Kilmore, with Goin' Back Home being lined up as our next piece.
Before all that we're playing in Taynuilt as part of their local ceilidhs. There will be a wide range of acts and we'll be there bringing our inimitable class and sophistication to proceedings!
Anyway, here's What's the Deal?
